Obituary

Bonnie Lee Barron, of Hamilton, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on November 21, 2024, at the age of 96.  Bonnie was born on April 18, 1928, to Robert Perry Hampton and Sada Mae (Willis) Hampton in Independence, Missouri.  When she was young, her family moved briefly to Colorado and then to Las Vegas during The Great Depression while her father did construction work, including working on the Hoover Dam.  Bonnie was one of nine siblings:  Bob Hampton, Lois Harris, Velva Hinderks, Eugene Hampton, Leta Vreeland, Betty Ruth Hampton, Paul Hampton, and Valliera Myers.  Her family returned to Missouri and settled in Hamilton where Bonnie would graduate from high school in 1946.

Bonnie attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, before returning to Hamilton and marrying Lee Allen Barron on December 27, 1947.  Bonnie and Lee would share 64 years of marriage before his death in October of 2012.  Together, they raised six children:  Thomas Allen, Henry Robert, David Lee, Diana Marie, Janet Sue, and Patricia Ann.  Her family was at the heart of her world.

Bonnie and Lee owned and operated a dairy farm in Hamilton, Missouri, where they worked tirelessly while raising their children in a loving, hardworking home.  In 1979, with their children grown, they left the family farm and moved to Branson, Missouri, where Bonnie began working at Silver Dollar City.  She held various roles at the park, including food service and the costume shop before finding her passion in the leather shop, where she created her own line of fur bears and other unique crafts. As an artisan, she spent her career sharing her talents with countless visitors, leaving a lasting impression before her retirement.

Bonnie never knew her own grandmother, and that inspired her to become the very best grandmother she could be.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and each one felt the depth of her unconditional love.  She was a kind, nonjudgmental soul, deeply devoted to her faith, and a woman of remarkable grace.

Bonnie and Lee returned to Hamilton where they would spend the remainder of their lives close to many of their children and grandchildren and friends.  Bonnie's life was a beautiful testament to kindness, creativity, and devotion.  A gifted artist, Bonnie expressed her creativity in many forms.  She was a talented painter, seamstress, quilter, and creator of stunning beadwork, clay sculptures, stained glass pieces, leatherwork, and jewelry.  After her retirement, she filled most of her days with various crafting plans and projects.

A lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, shaping her values and inspiring kindness and generosity.  To all who knew her, she was just about perfect.  Her gentle spirit, artistic legacy, and unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

She will be dearly missed.
