Charles Lee Mummert, Cameron, Missouri, passed away on April 13, 2016, surrounded by his family and loved ones peacefully, and entered his eternal home.

Charles was a member of the Christian faith. He fought a long, hard, and courageous battle against lymphoma cancer. He never complained and showed such bravery to the end. He was our hero.

Charles Lee was born on November 4, 1949, at the Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., to James and Corinne Mummert.

Charles Lee worked for 30 years at AGP Processing in St. Joseph, retiring in 2003. He also farmed and later worked as a bus driver for Clinco Industries for 8 years.

In 1969 he was united in marriage to Anita Hunt. They were high school sweethearts and their love for one another was a true bond. To this union three children were born.

Charles Lee loved being outdoors, gardening, raising pumpkins, woodworking, and building many wood crafts. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his wife, children, grandsons, and family and friends and loved visiting with people. He was a kind and loving husband, father and friend. He was a hard worker and just a down-to-Earth and funny person.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Corinne Mummert; a son, Charles Lee "Chuck" Mummert II; and his in-laws, Junior and Jessie Hunt.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Mummert, Cameron; his son-Steven (Natalie) Mummert, Edgerton, Mo.; his daughter-Deloma Hensley, Edgerton; and 5 grandsons-Christopher, Tommy, and Matthew Mummert and Jacob and Jesse Hensley, all of Edgerton.

Charles Lee has been cremated under the direction of Brown Funeral Home, Cameron.

There will be a private family fathering in his honor.
