Clay Morgan Grooms passed away July 24, 2025, in Opp, Alabama.  Clay was born in Cameron, MO., on November 25, 1969, to Michael and Michaele Grooms.  Clay attended school in Hamilton, MO., and then graduated from Cameron High School in 1988.  He served 25 years in the Army retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.  During his time in the service he deployed on several occasions to both Iraq and Afghanistan as a Black Hawk pilot.  He earned two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals and five Air Medals.

He is survived by his wife, Menda; son, Morgan, both of Opp, Alabama; father, Michael, Kidder, MO.; mother, Michaele Davis (Don), Walnut Grove, MO; brother, Shane Grooms (Len), Nixa, MO; sister, Jodi (Jason) Conn, Blue Springs, MO; brother, Brandon Davis (Alissa), Rogersville, MO; grandmother, Shyrlee Davis, Independence, MO, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the VFW building in Enterprise, Alabama, on September 20, 2025, at 5 p.m.

Interment will be at the Opp Cemetery in Opp, Alabama.
