Fern (Roberts) Smith, 86, Pleasant Valley, Mo., formerly of Fox, Arkansas, passed away on May 26, 2017, at the North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo. She had lived in Pleasant Valley with her daughter for the past 2 1/2 years.

Fern was born on September 22, 1930, in Arkansas, to Jack and Evelyn (Thorlton) Hines. In the past she worked at the Rival Factory, worked as a cook in a hospital, and also worked at Lee's Manufacturing in Kansas City. She greatly enjoyed completing cross word puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Mike Wilson.

Survivors: Step-son, Danny Roberts, Kansas City, Mo.; Children-Cheryl Apple, Pleasant Valley, Mo.; Judy Pickering, Hamilton, Mo.; and Steve Roberts, North Augusta, South Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother-Terry Brinkley, Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Graveside Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Kidder Cemetery, Kidder, Mo.

Visitation: 1 hour prior to the service at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.
