John E. Cox passed away in the early morning hours of July 21st, 2024 at Livingston Manor in Chillicothe, Missouri at the age of 72. John was the only son of Menzie and Camilla Cox of Hamilton, MO. He grew up in Hamilton, attending Penney High School and did very well in sports, especially track. He later attended Central Missouri State College and enlisted into the USMC. After some time, he started driving long haul truck, and when his back made that job to difficult he became a correctional officer at Missouri Department of Corrections. John loved hiking, his dogs, building model airplanes, and camping/exploring in the Willamette National Forest in Oregon where his daughter and several of his grandchildren live.

John was preceded in death by his parents Menzie and Camilla Cox. He is survived by his son John W. Cox (Becky) of St. Joseph, MO; daughter Brandy L. Griffith (Scott) of McMinnville, OR; son Shawn M. Harris of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren: Ashleigh M. Keithley-Britt (Zach), Dustin M. Keithley (Raegan), Aiden W. Keithley (Melissa), Antonio G. Cox, Quinn E. Harris: great-grandchildren: Marley D. Britt, James W. Castanada, and Charleigh E. Britt.

John was cremated under the direction of Bram Funeral Services. Per family request there will be no formal services.
