Obituary

Ruthe "Elaine" Burnett, 80, Kingston, MO, passed away on April 23, 2020.  She lived in Caldwell County, Missouri, most of her life except for a few years when she lived in Kansas City.

Elaine was born on June 6, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Ray W. and Lorene (Henricks) Stephenson.  She grew up in Kingston, MO, attending elementary school there and graduated from the Penney High School, Hamilton, in 1957.  After graduation, she worked at Commerce Bank in Kansas City.  After her marriage she worked at the Hamilton Bank for a short time.  She worked hard as a farm wife alongside her husband, Kenneth, and also most recently worked at Twin Creeks in Kingston.

Elaine was a member of the Hamilton Federated Church and had served as secretary on the church board.  In the past she was also active in the Hamilton Young Farm Wives and Order of The Eastern Star in Polo, MO.  She became a "farm girl" after marriage and enjoyed the farm as well as gardening, making baskets, square dancing, tole painting, cooking and canning.  She loved life and the simple things, and especially family and family gatherings and never missed a family member's birthday.

Preceding Elaine in death were her parents, daughter-Connie Martin, and sister-Maxine Marsh.

On January 23, 1958, she married Kenneth Burnett at the First Christian Church in Cameron.  He survives of the home.

Additional survivors:  Daughters-Mickie (Rick) Cummings, Hamilton; Kendra (Jon) Tiemann, La Grange, MO; and Karen (Jerald) Grimes, Osborn, MO; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020, at the Kingston Cemetery, Kingston.
