Obituary

Stephen "Steve" F. Moyer, 69, Polo, MO., passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with esophageal cancer.

Steve was born on September 10, 1954, in Oak Harbor, WA., to William F. and Esther B. (Waske) Moyer.  He graduated from the Grant City, High School, Grant City, MO., as president of his Class of 1972.  Steve married Gina Mitchell on March 17, 1979, and to that union were born three girls:  Natalie Gale (died in infancy), Amanda (Mandy) Kathleen, and Katherine (Kate) Joann.  They moved to Polo in 1985 but later divorced.  Steve stayed in Polo and worked at the Polo Locker plant for many years.  He then worked in farming and construction work.  He held many jobs over the years and was a master at anything he set his mind to.  He was a master mechanic, a perfectionist wood craftsman, and a great cook too, thanks to Judy and his mom!  Although Steve didn't have a teaching degree, he was a patient teacher, especially with his grandchildren.  Just like his dad, he was a constant teacher and constant learner.

On October 9, 1987, he married the love of his life, Judy Elaine Leamer Park in Richmond, MO. They enjoyed married life on their farm just outside of Polo, MO., with their 5 kids and all of their grandkids.   She preceded Steve in death in 2022.  He was also preceded by his father, an infant daughter, Natalie Gale Moyer, and a grandson, Harrison Lapen.
